One of the most popular DM's I get is "What lights are those?". This usually happens when I post a picture to one of my accounts of our 360 set up, Like this one...

If you are reading this blog it's likely because you are curious too! So here is the info you want.

These round beautiful lights are The Neewer LED Bi-Color Studio Round Lighting, Ultra Thin Studio Edge Flapjack Light, 18-Inch 70W Dimmable Portrait Light.

Why I Love These Lights

I tried a lot of lights when I first started and I was never able to get the videos exactly how I wanted them to look. They always looked flat and grainy and this was because I was using lights there weren't strong enough.

Video requires a lot of lighting in order to get a good output and finding a cost effect bright LED light that has color temperature range is hard. The Neewer round lights check all those boxes and a few more!

While these come with a plug for power they also have the option to be battery operated and you even have options on what kind of battery to use.

The native battery connection is a V-Mount battery. This is a fancy professional battery but it packs a lot of power in it. One of these batteries will last us about 4 hours per panel. They aren't the cheapest things going but they really help clean up the set up. You might be tempted to get a cheaper one but know this. Watts matter. The ones linked below are 300W/270W and those should last about 4.2 hours/2.8 hours at full brightness. To calculate the duration divide the total Watts of the batter by the total watts of the light Battery/light = time.
300W/70Watt = 4.2 hours. #math.

Setting Them Up

The next question I always get is. What stand are they on??

I really hated the looks of light stands and wanted something a bit cleaner. I saw someone use mic stand for their wand lights and decided I wanted to try them for my lights too. What you will need:

American Links
Mic Stand and Base - https://amzn.to/3JKJlh4 (get the 12 inch ones, they won't fit in the pocket but your lights won't fall over)
Adapters - https://amzn.to/42eYQoN
Optional - Carry Case - https://amzn.to/3Tw1zGs (this is my favorite one but it's often out of stock and doesn't have prime delivery)

Canadian Links
Mic Stand and Base - https://amzn.to/40h9OIE
Adapters - https://amzn.to/3Lv3l8y
Optional - Carry Case - https://amzn.to/3YVofkr (this is my favorite one but it's often out of stock and doesn't have prime delivery)

That's it! That's the secret to my favorite 360 lighting. They are perfect for GoPro, iPhone or DSLR 360 booths and will help your set up looks super clean while giving you the best lighting for 360 video.
